Trending: Heavy Metal (Metallic Heels)

This year's fashion scene has been saturated with bold style trends such as statement sweaters and sweatshirts, single sole heels, mesh, faux leather and now metallic pumps. I would venture to say that this year produced some of my favourite styles, which I will definitely carry in to the future, whether they are still 'in' or not. I am not one to follow trends so whether something is in or not does not have much effect on me. If I like it, I wear it.

This Fall, many designers such as Giuseppe Zanotti, Manolo Blahnik, Brian Atwood and others, showcased their latest creations and apparently metallic pumps were the big hit.

What are your thoughts on the metallic pumps trend? Do you have any favourites? My two favourites are the Christian Louboutin So Kate Specchio and the Jimmy Choo Anouk, both of which are sold out everywhere. I hope to find them before Christmas though. Wish me luck!

Trending: Fashion Sweaters- MAKE A STATEMENT!!

The fashion fairies must have noticed that there was a need for a fresh, fun and uber chic way for fashionistas worldwide to welcome and celebrate the Fall season. Fashion sweaters and sweatshirts have been making a huge statement this Fall. From the runways to the streets, bold prints to cheeky statements, these trendy pieces have been seen and styled in every way possible.

Here are a few ways that some of my favourite style bloggers made a statement!

MY STYLE: Metallic

In this post, I told you that I would recreate the look that I wore for the meet and greet session of the Style Bloggers of Colour  Conference 2013 that I attended in Miami this past October. While I did sorta, kinda recreate the look, I changed the top and shoes. Hope you like it.

Isn't the skirt just the cutest? It's another tailor-made piece by my seamstress.

Style Mix: Faux Leather Skirt

Autumn (in my humble opinion), is the most beautiful of the 4 seasons. Even though we don't experience seasons here in the Caribbean, Autumn / Fall is my favourite season. Why? Well, mainly because of the colour change in the leaves from brilliant greens to all shades of brown, gold, orange, rust and copper and not to mention the cool breezes. Autumn/ Fall also reminds me that Christmas is right around the corner. It is another beautiful time to reflect on the past year, spend time with close friends and family and celebrate the birth of our Saviour Jesus Christ.

Just because seasons change, it does not mean that your entire wardrobe must also change. One does not have to pack away all of their Spring/ Summer clothes, but rather find ways to transition those pieces into Fall wear.

When one thinks of Summer, faux leather is not the first thing that comes to mind, however, it has been a hot number this past Summer and has continued its presence into the Fall.

I have created the style set below showing you how to ransition a faux leather skirt from Summer straight into Fall.

MY STYLE- Vintage Flare

I've really been wearing the heck out of my polka dot blouse recently but what can I say other than when you own a piece that you love dearly, and it seems to compliment everything perfectly, then you keep on repeat right?

Today, the star of the show is not the blouse but rather the flared skirt. It's another piece made by my seamstress whom I've been working to around the clock. Words cannot express how grateful I am to have found her.

I first saw this full flared skirt on Blair of Atlantic-Pacific and you all know that I LOVE Blair's style to bits. In the future I will be restyling my skirt with a black and white striped top just as Blair did here. You may call it copying but I call it inspiration.

INSPIRED STYLE: Diamonds & Leather Lace

Hi lovies:

I always find it interesting that when I see an unusual piece of clothing in a store and decide to purchase it, someone, somewhere finds a way to style the same or similar piece in a way that is very appealing to me and again, that is exactly what Wendy did with her diamond print pants here. As mentioned in a previous post, I find inspiration for many things in many things and today's inspiration was from Ms. Wendy.

Who doesn't love Wendy? She's so cute.

Yummy Goodness

Hi lovies:

If you've been following my blog for a while, you would know that I am quite the foodie. I LOVE food. As a matter of fact, love is an understatement.

I was in the land of wood and water this past weekend for a wedding and had a great time. Jamaica is only a 4o-45min flight from here so it is always easy to hop across for a quick getaway. When most people think of Jamaica, they think of Bob Marley, reggae music, rastas and marijuana, but for me, Jamaica is synonymous with food. Granted, there are many other aspects of Jamaica that I truly love and enjoy but food is definitely at the top of that list.

Here are a few shots of what I devoured this past weekend. Take me back please.....

My first ital, vegan/ vegetarian plate of yummy goodness- callaloo, veggie mince, cucumbers, corn, pinto bean stew, sweet potato and pumpkin. It was soooooo good.

Steam veggies, pinto bean stew, pumpkin, green banana and corn

Good morning Jamaica! Looking at this picture takes me back to the moment that I was actually eating this. Saltfish (cod) with okra, green banana and boil dumplings

My departure lunch- steam fish and veggies with fried bammy
