iGo Pink- Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Breast Cancer affects both men and women and have claimed the lives of millions around the world. I lost my mom to cancer (not breast cancer) 8 years ago and the pain of her loss still has not gotten easier. Many others share this feeling with me.

Every year, I try to do something to honour victims and survivors of breast cancer. Here in the Cayman Islands, there are many activities during October to raise awareness for Breast Cancer. There are silent auctions, run/walk marathons, gala dinners, fund-raising events.

There are soooo many different ways to show support for Breast Cancer and this post is all about that.

You can also see my previous posts for breast canccer here and here.

Breast Cancer Awareness Makeup Competition

I've never entered a makeup competition but thought it'd definitely be worth my while to enter A Brilliant Brunette's Breast Cancer Awareness Makeup Competition (http://www.abrilliantbrunette.com/2009/10/contest-time-breast-cancer-awareness.html) where you had to create a makeup look using pink. I surely went for it. I'll let you know if I was the lucky winner.

As mentioned in my previous blog on Breast Cancer makeup, I am a HUGE supporter of any type of organization or event regarding cancer (any type). My mom died of cancer 4 years ago and even though her type of cancer (Non-Hodgkin's Lymphoma) is not as big a deal as Breast Cancer, I still support it.
In the meantime, stay tuned for more fabulous makeup looks and remember, Beauty is NOT in the makeup, it's in you!

Breast Cancer Awareness Month- October

As women, we should all know how very important it is to have our annual checks just to ensure that our bodies are functioning as they should and there are no unwanted lumps or bumps anywhere.

I am a strong supporter of any type of cancer organization simply because 1- my mother died of cancer (non-hodgkins lymphoma) 4 years ago and 2- I have cancer on both sides of my family.

Dealing with cancer is NO fun. The patients suffer and so do the friends and family of the cancer patient. I know because I've been there. Unfortunately we all know someone who has suffered from this terrile diseas.

In honor of my mother and all other cancer patients, breast cancer or otherwise, this makeup look is dedicated to you.
