BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Hi Dolls,

I know I've been quiet with my posts lately but that's because I recently joined the AfroNoire team as a Features Writer responsible for the Caribbean region (eek!) It is no secret that the Caribbean is often overlooked when it comes to style and fashion, when in fact we are trendsetters in our own right! Joining the AfroNoire team has created a platform for me to 'educate' the wider social media and fashion community about all things beauty, fashion,, lifestyle Caribbean. Although not fully confirmed, the Caribbean is said to have about 100 inhabited islands and is home to approximately 40 million people, so I am more than excited to be tasked with the responsibility of sharing it with the world.

Please follow AfroNoire on Twitter @afronoire | Facebook | and their online magazine Afronoire

With all of that being said, my first article has been featured today on AfroNoire here. Please enjoy the read and share any feedback you may have.

About AfroNoire: AfroNoire is a UK-Based Lifestyle Publication for Interested Black Women. Launched in 2013, AFRONOIRE operate with the intent of fulfilling the social responsibility of positively influencing how African-Caribbean women are represented in the media and society as it sets the standards for the 21st century fierce, stylish, unapologetic and creative black woman.

My Oscar 2013 Red Carpet Faves

Hi beauties:

I don't usually watch the Oscar's simply because I rarely turn on my TV so I'm usually clueless as to which movie is playing and which movie blew up the box office. At any rate, I figured that I could at least watch the Red Carpet portion of the event just to get an eye full of the fabulous gowns/ dresses that would be passing through. While there were many beautiful gowns at the event, I narrowed my absolute favourites down to six.

Charlize Theron in a stunning GORGEOUS Dior dress. This was my absolute fave. First choice all the way. The sleekness, simplicity and elegance of this dress is captivating. I think this will also be a wedding dress option *wink*

One of Hollywood's favourite 'girls', none other than Ms. Halle Berry. Halle graced the Red Carpet in this amazing matallic gown by Versace. We all know that Halle is a Versace girl.

While I wasn't very keen on the fact that Jessica Chastain chose a colour very close to her skin tone, one cannot deny that this is a beautiful gown. Jessica chose this gown by Armani Prive because it reminded her of Old Hollywood. How classic.

Donna Karan is no stranger when it comes to designing beautifully, well crafted gowns/dresses. Singer Kelly Rowland graced the Red Carpet in this stunning, fitted monochrome gown. Breathtaking.

I want this dress. I just love the simple, elegant, feminine touch of this dress. The soft, underlying, monochrome sheer material at the tail completed this dress.

What is there to say about Naomi Watt's gown other than the fact that it is just to die for? This metallic gown is by Armani Prive. How elegant is it? I LOVE the unexpected detail in the front.

Did you have any favourites?

Featured as a Loc Star!!!

Hi beauties:

Today I was featured on Chescaleigh's (Franchesca Ramsey) Loc Stars on YouTube. Chescaleigh is a graphic designer, vlogger, singer, entertainer and actress who lives in New York. She has a YouTube channelwhere she creates posts about pretty much anything and recently included weekly posts of "Loc Stars". Loc Stars is Chesca's way of sharing other locked beauties' creative hairstyles or their recreations of her hairstyles because she also has dreadlocks.

For a chance to be a "Loc Star", Chesca encourages anyone and everyone to post pictures of their loc creations on her FB Page and then she chooses the styles she likes the best and post them on her YouTube channel.

Cayman Fashion Solstice 2010

Just about every country in the world has a fashion week except for us here in the Cayman Islands but Guavaberry Marketing (Cayman) Limited, gave us what we've been longing for; a fashion weekend. Once again, I had the fabulous opportunity to work with and network with some of the most gorgeous people in the business. Living on such a tiny island definitely has its pluses and being a makeup artist is definitely one of them (wink!)

Cayman Fashioin Solstice (http://www.caymanfashionsolstice.com/) is the Caribbean's premier fashion gala event! The vision for Cayman Fashion Solstice has culminated into a four-day fashion and lifestyle evnt, which combines private soirees, fun fetes, island tours and sailing excursions.
The Solstice Fashion Gala, which remains the nexus of the Cayman Fashion Solstice event, serves as a platform for showcasing international trend-setting fashion designers and models from some of the world's top agencies including Ford, Elite, Major Models, Red, Muser, DNA, Q Models and Identities.
The evening's fashion show highlights renowned designers from New York, Los Angeles, Guyana, Trinidad and the Cayman Islands (YAY!!!!!). Headlining the international cast of modesl are Georgette (Georgie) Badiel, a former Miss Africa, Bobby Roache (YUM!!!!!), Leah-Mari Guevara, Wendell Lissimore, Kadeem Fischer etc and of course, some of the islands' GORGEOUS models.

I had the fabulous opportunity of being a makeup artist for this gala event and I met every person who was involved in this production. Imagine having to do makeup for 24 models back to back??? Needless to say, at the end of it all, I was NO USE to myself. Thankfully, I was able to catch an itsy bitsy part of the show.

Here are a few pics!

I also had the prviledge of working with my very own Miss Cayman 2004- Stacyann Kelly

The producers and directors of the show were so overly pleased with my makeup that they've already booked me as next year's makeup artist for Fashion Extravaganza 2011. Isn't that awesome?????
