BIG ANNOUNCEMENT!!!

Hi Dolls,

I know I've been quiet with my posts lately but that's because I recently joined the AfroNoire team as a Features Writer responsible for the Caribbean region (eek!) It is no secret that the Caribbean is often overlooked when it comes to style and fashion, when in fact we are trendsetters in our own right! Joining the AfroNoire team has created a platform for me to 'educate' the wider social media and fashion community about all things beauty, fashion,, lifestyle Caribbean. Although not fully confirmed, the Caribbean is said to have about 100 inhabited islands and is home to approximately 40 million people, so I am more than excited to be tasked with the responsibility of sharing it with the world.

Please follow AfroNoire on Twitter @afronoire | Facebook | and their online magazine Afronoire

With all of that being said, my first article has been featured today on AfroNoire here. Please enjoy the read and share any feedback you may have.

About AfroNoire: AfroNoire is a UK-Based Lifestyle Publication for Interested Black Women. Launched in 2013, AFRONOIRE operate with the intent of fulfilling the social responsibility of positively influencing how African-Caribbean women are represented in the media and society as it sets the standards for the 21st century fierce, stylish, unapologetic and creative black woman.

MY STYLE: Melon Burst

It is no secret that I am smitten by full midi skirts. They are so lady-like, elegant and versatile. I tend to dress them up but may experiment with dressing them down as I've seen many style bloggers do. I just don't know how to #turndown outfits though. LOL!

It just so happened that I paired the coral and purple together before noticing that I had shoes with the same exact colors. I loved how everything just came together.

MY STYLE: Chains in White

It's Summer and the sun is by no means forgiving. The days are steaming hot and if you saw my post about my summer styling essentials, then you would know that I am all about trying to stay as cool as possible this season. Apart from remaining indoors the entire season which is virtually impossible, dressing in airy, lightweight pieces would be the next best way to combat the high temperatures.

I love t-back or racer back tops and this one was even more intriguing because of the gold chains and flirty high-low detail. When I saw the top in one of my local boutiques, I automatically thought I'd pair it with a white bottom. I'm not sure why no other color came to mind but perhaps I may pair it with a colored bottom for another post.

White has always been a classic in my eyes. I often struggle in my decision to purchase something in black or white (depending on what it is).  White is so clean, crisp and automatically gives a sense of cool and calm when worn, no matter how hot it may be outdoor.

MY STYLE: Tulle Princess

Every girl pretends she is a princess at one point, no matter how little her life is like that-                                                                                                Alex Flinn

I was so eager to do this post just because of this skirt. I have been on the hunt for an affordable, tulle maxi skirt since the very first time I saw one late last year on another style blogger and I FINALLY found one. I am absolutely head over heels in love with this skirt and believe me, this may be the first but definitely not the last time you will see it. It is so full and flowy and princess-like and, and, and......I LOVE it!

For the entire time during this shoot, I was twirling and twirling and twirling. I couldn't help myself. It's so hard not to twirl in such a whimsical piece. I was definitely fueling my inner-Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City)

Summer Styling Essentials

When Raise.com reached out to me about their interactive campaign called 'Closet Swap', a campaign on how I'd be transitioning my wardrobe into Summer attire, I wasn't quite sure how I'd differentiate the post from any of my previous posts considering that I reside in Summer central, but I quickly thought I'd create a collage showcasing a few pieces that I would more than likely be wearing this season.

Raise is the first peer-to-peer secondary gift card marketplace where you can sell gift cards for cash or buy discount gift cards to all of your favorite brands. Raise is a platform to increase your purchasing power. Every time you save money, you're raising your earnings and giving yourself a raise [Raise.com].

Spring and Summer are the two seasons that most people look forward to. Fortunately and sometimes unfortunately for me, I reside in a country where there are permanent summers. Summers in the Caribbean are torturous and while most people would not complain about the heat, sometimes, it is just unbearable.

In the Summer, I am always about comfort and styling pieces that are free-flowing, cool, airy, bright and colorful. While florals, co-ords and lace are on trend right now, I am not always about trends but about personal preference.

My styling essentials for this Summer will no doubt include shorts, now that I'm becoming a little more comfortable wearing them, sandals or flip flops, free-flowing, bright and colorful day dresses that can also be worn in the night, and most definitely bikinis which I started scouting since March.

What are your styling picks and essentials for this season? Are you about trends or comfort and coolness like me?

MY STYLE: Zig Zag

As I become more engrossed in the awesome, exciting and dynamic world of style blogging, I am also experimenting more and becoming less self-conscious about wearing shorts. In previous posts, I've shared why I was never keen on wearing shorts.

Most of my pieces have a story and these shorts do. I saw them in one of the local boutiques and passed them several times.....roughly about a month's worth of passing, but I couldn't resist the quality of the fabric and simple black and white, zig zag design. I eventually gave in and purchased them to add to my growing shorts collection.
