MY STYLE: Noir et Blanc

Hi loves, it's been a while since I've done a proper style post for you.  Between Cayman Islands Fashion Week 2014 which was held in April, and Cayman Carnival Batabano which was the following week, I've been on the go and just couldn't find any time to blog. Whenever I don't blog, my mood changes. Blogging is one of the few free ways in which I unwind. It brings a sense of relief and balance. It is cathartic. What are some of the ways you unwind and regain your balance?

Black and white are one of those classic combinations that will never die. I don't think there's anything that looks bad in black and white. Can you think of anything? I absolutely LOVE black and white photos, clothing, a handful of movies, shoes, decor and the list goes on and on. This outfit pairing is no different. I purchased these pants online sometime last year and never worn them (like so many other pieces in my closet. *bows head in shame*)

Because I wanted the pants to be the star of the show with a little help from the extreme, structured peplum top, I kept the accessories to a bare minimum.

Body Conscious....

As women, we are all conscious about our bodies. Regardless if the world looks on and think we have the most gorgeous body ever, because we are our own worst critics, we find something that we'd much rather hide away. For me, it's my entire body. Yes, I said my entire body. In previous posts, I have shared a little about why I am so overly conscious about my stature. Many people think it's because I despise food and don't eat enough why I'm so tiny, but the truth is that I am quite the foodie. I am simply genetically tiny. While that is the envy of many, for me, it's a daily 'struggle'.

As an island child who loves the sea, sand, sun, fun and boating, this was the first time that I felt completely free and fearless about my body. I strutted around the boat in my bikini and felt liberated. I felt free to be me. Even bolder than that, I posted an entire album of photos on my FB page for the world to see. Can we say LIBERATION?!?

This past weekend was a great weekend. My girlfriend organised a boat trip for her thirty-something'th birthday. Although I am EXTREMELY paranoid about party boats and was very hesitant about joining her, it was too gorgeous of a day not to go out on the water. After much considering and coaxing by my friends, I went on the boat and had an amazing day. *whew*

Isn't the water just so stunning? #ILiveWhereYouVacation

It's always Summer here in the Cayman Islands so chances are, you'll see more bikini/ beach/ boating posts.

Cayman Carnival Batabano 2014

Saturday, May 3rd 2014 was another great day for revelers and masqueraders as they celebrated the 31st annual Cayman Carnival Batabano. Bright colours, beads, feathers, glitter, gems and energy flooded the streets. The scorching 90 degree heat did not deter the soca junkies from jumping, neither did it deter the masses that came out to watch.

Thankfully, my work day creating vibrant, carnival looks wasn't as hectic as it was in 2013, so I had more than enough time to join in on some of the fun.

Every year, this event attracts thousands of visitors from around the world to our tiny piece of paradise in the sun. Even though our carnival is incomparable to those in Trinidad, Jamaica, Brazil and Honduras, our people still know how to take full advantage of the latest soca hits and all the fun involved.

I love all the bright colours that flood the streets during carnival. It brings such a happy vibe.

INSPIRED STYLE: Mono-Mix

Hi beauties:

After two full weeks of activities back to back, I am finally getting around to sharing  a style post with you.

This look is one that was inspired by an Instagram style blogger, Doopie. I actually met Doopie when she was living in the Cayman Islands and we instantly clicked simply because of our undying love for style. Doopie has since relocated to the UK but we still keep in touch and of course, stalk each other's styles on Instagram.

Mixing dots and stripes was a huge hit in 2012/13. I previously shared a similar post where I mixed dots and stripes.
