Dreams Do Come 'True'- Allure Fashion Weekend 2015

Making it happen, it’s just something you gotta do- Auliq Ice
I am ECSTATIC to introduce, #OliviaBDesigns to you and the rest of the world. Dreams really do come true and all you have to do is something, anything--just make it happen.
For years and years I've envisioned myself with a label, an internationally recognized and respected label, but how was that going to happen if all I did was envision it and not do something about that dream?

Allure Fashion Weekend, a LimeLite Entertainment Production created a platform, THE platform I needed to showcase my designs to the island and the rest of the world. Was I nervous? YES! Was I unsure? YES! Was I hesitant? YES! Was it that I wasn't confident in my creative abilities? No, I was nervous, unsure and hesitant because I was going 'up against' other established designers; designers who had already shown their work on international stages around the globe.
Were there hiccups in my designs? YES! Was everything last minute? YES! Was I filled with every type of mixed emotion there was? YES! Was I fearful? YES, but the only way that I would overcome these feelings was by going, by doing, by leaping....and I did! Despite all of the uncertainty, I took a huge leap of faith and jumped on the opportunity to showcase myself and my designs to the world. Was it rewarding?? Oh heck YES!!
Self-confidence and self-courage are your greatest strengths- Lailah Gifty Akita
Fashion Weekend kicked off on Saturday, 7 November 2015 on the roof-top of one of Cayman's luxury beach resorts- the Grand Cayman Beach Suites and was hosted by actor and model, Tyson Beckford and local model and TV personality Monica Walton. The runway show featured international designers including BCBG MAXAZARIA, Yumi Katsura, Trefle Designs, Carlton Jones Collections, Planet Zero and local designers YNC, Isy B. and me, Olivia B.

The positive feedback from everyone has been overwhelming, so much that I'm still receiving compliments and even orders for my pieces. How crazy is that?  I'm still in disbelief that this happened.

For anyone to believe in you, first you have to believe in yourself. Failure is only failure if you do not try.

Did you like any of these pieces? Which one(s) was your favourite?
Allure Fashion Weekend showcases up-and-coming designers along with seasoned individuals, ready and raring to gain international exposure. The mission at Allure Cayman is to celebrate, showcase and inspire international and local style minds, whilst highlighting Cayman as an emerging fashion capital. #AllureCayman is about changing the landscape of fashion in the Caribbean. WINNER! WINNER!- 2013 Style Bloggers of Color Conference

WOOT! WOOT!!

Today I come to you with exciting news. I am over the moon with excitement. Funnily enough, excitement is one of the emotions that I feel the least (not sure why).....but anyway, last night, I received a tweet saying that I won a ticket to the 2013 Style Bloggers of Color Conference in Miami next month (October). As you know (or may not know), I live in the Caribbean but thankfully, Florida (specifically Miami) is just an hour's flight away :)

I just happened to stumble across the competition on Instagram posted by BlogColorfully where you basically Instagram yourself in the 'requested color' and state in the caption why you want to attend the Style Bloggers of Color Conference. I entered for the 'Purple' and 'Blue' looks.

You can find a lot more information on the conference and purchase tickets here. Thankfully, I don't have to purchase a ticket :)

This 2-day event is going to be jam packed with informational sessions, fashion shows, networking, food, drinks, pics, fierce fashion etc. I am soooo excited. I am still fairly new to fashion blogging and definitely looking forward to networking with other fiercely, fashionable, fashion bloggers at this event. This is a great opportunity to truly enjoy what I love doing -on a completely different level.

Oh, and before I forget, here is the collage that won me that ticket and to think that I didn't think that purple looked good on me.....well here you have it!

Fashion News: Sarah Jessica Parker for Manolo Blahnik

Source: Here

Sarah Jessica Parker is designing a collection for Manolo Blahnik

Carrie Bradshaw’s ultimate dream may finally come true.

Fifteen years after she graced our television screens as the beloved sex columnist in Sex and the City, real life Bradshaw Sarah Jessica Parker is officially launching her first footwear collection for Manolo Blahnik.

It should come as no surprise, given Parker’s inextricable link to shoes. “In a silly way, I think it’s what people have expected of me most because of Carrie Bradshaw,” Parker once told Vogue. “Because I got to play that role, I wore a lot of shoes, and by default I learned an enormous amount.”

According to British Vogue, Parker looked to “great old-school labels like Charles Jourdan and Maud Frizon” as inspiration for her collection. Bringing her own flair to the design table, she will be offering “something different” that will reflect her personal taste. She expresses, “We’re putting new colours together that people don’t typically do, just beautiful combinations that you wish existed in your closet. And in terms of bags, thinking about that period of the Seventies into the Eighties, what those women were carrying, taking away the bells and the whistles and hardware and really making it about the bag.” And the best part? Her whole collection might not put a huge dent in your bank account. The SJP collection will feature elegant pumps and flats that will range from $200 to $300, with bags around $700.

Produced in Europe and New York City, the SJP collection will arrive in the U.S. early next year, exclusively sold through Nordstrom.
