MY STYLE: Denim & Converse

Happy Monday loves! Hope you had a fantabulastic weekend. Even though mine flew by as it usually does, it was great nonetheless.

If I had to use one word to describe myself and only one word, it would either be misunderstood or unpredictable. At another time, I will explain in depth why I've chosen these words but for the purpose of this post, I will say unpredictable. If you've been following for some time, you would have noted that in 98% of my looks, I'm wearing heels so it could easily be assumed that I would continue in that same vein for all my looks but believe me, I'm a practical dresser (or I'd like to think so). For this look, I chose to throw a curve ball and switch it up a bit. For the longest time, I've wanted a pair of white converse kicks and during my most recent travels to New York, I unintentionally stumbled upon a DSW store.

I love the distressed detail of this sleeveless denim shirt. Although I am desperately trying to curb/ cut back on my impulse purchases, this top was an impulse by but thankfully not an expensive one.

INSPIRED STYLE: Lime

Happy Friday loves!

If you've been following me on this blog for a while then you'll know that I'm not big on following seasons, trends or any of the sorts. I kinda just do my own thing. This is by no means a Fall look but I saw this look on Blair a while back and felt inspired, as she always makes me feel.

I've never really doubled up on statement necklaces but experimented with this look and it worked--or at least I think so.

RECAP: NYFW Day 1

If you follow me on instagram, then you would know that I attended New York Fashion Week S/S 2015. For someone who is a self-proclaimed, die-hard fashionista, I have never been eager to go to New York- the city of fashion. Prior to this trip, I'd been to New York twice before with the first time being in 2011 because of work, but this trip was simply amazing. An awesome experience that has changed my mind about the big apple.

Even though September is considered Fall, NYFW in September is usually about Spring and Summer wear for the upcoming year, so my outfit reflected the same. Considering that it was NYFW and all the 'who is who' usually bring out their best outfits, I was struggling with what to wear because I really don't have or care much for high-end brand clothing. Either way, I paired a Springy floral blazer with some high waist shorts and open toe sandals and voila, that was my outfit for day 1.

I met this doll A Sara Dee from the UK. She was around and about capturing shots of everyone and I loved her ensemble and wanted a shot with her. We ended up chit chatting and had a great time.

When Nic and I went to the Lincoln Centre to take in all the action, we had no idea what we were in for. We had absolutely no idea how many photographers, magazines, agencies were there with cameras. The minute we stepped foot on ground we were swarmed by everyone and when I say everyone, I mean everyone. It was overwhelming to say the least and it got to the point where we just stood in one spot and posed. We couldn't even move if we wanted to. To be amidst people who share the same passion as I do had me buzzing.

I met Dalvin at Cayman Islands Fashion Week in April 2014. He flew in to showcase his line on the island. We instantly gravitated to each other and have kept in touch ever since. The boy is just too fierce!

If you attended NYFW SS 15, please feel free to share your experience. I'd like to hear all about it.

MY STYLE: Yellow Diamonds

Happy Monday loves! Kicking off the Monday with yellow diamonds. If I were to make a list of my top 5 favourite stores to shop, H&M would rank high on that list. Their items are not only affordable but diverse. At any given point you can find items to dress up or dress down and these diamond print, sateen pants are one of those items. Although they've been sitting in my closet unworn for quite some time, I finally found a simple top to pair them with. These pants make a statement and I didn't want to kill the outfit with a fussy top so a simple, light pull over did the trick.

Let's talk about this backdrop though. If you have visited my island, Grand Cayman, then you know that we are a clean, serene little piece of paradise. Graffiti walls and artistic, public wall murals are something that is very new. My photographer who is also an artist created his own wall (which I will share in full at another time) and before seeing it, I was hesitant to shoot against it because I wanted my outfit to stand out and not clash too much with the wall. To my surprise, the blues in his wall beautifully complimented my outfit.

INSPIRED STYLE: Double Denim

Today's look is by no means an original one but definitely a classic one. There is something crisp, refreshing and summery about all white with a touch of denim. Although most countries are now seeing the back end of summer, we're fortunate to still have warm days.

My look was inspired by KT Reid of KTR Style. Her American Girl style was quick, simple and chic. To me, this is the perfect weekend outfit.

MY STYLE: Lady

As a self-proclaimed fashionista, I must admit that I do not always follow fashion rules, trends, fashion history etc., which leads me to say that I never did quite understand the rule, 'No White After Labour Day'. I eventually got around the researching the rule and while I now understand its origin and on-going tradition, I can't promise that I will adhere it.

The best colour in the whole world is the one that looks good on you- Coco Chanel

I LOVE white. I've repeated it in several blog posts but I really, really do. White is so pure, so classy, so lady-like, so fresh, so crisp. Whenever I wear full white, especially a dress, I feel so royal.
