INSPIRED STYLE: Princess Barbie

If I were to receive a dollar for every time some one called me barbie, I would be a zillionaire!

Over the weekend, I attended a beach wedding for two really cool, down to earth people. It was such a chilled, laid back type of wedding.....like a flip flop, short sleeve type of wedding, but knowing me, I had to attempt wearing heels on sand *crickets*.

I was never a girlie girl growing up and I still don't consider myself to be one but I really have a soft spot for big, flared, poofy skirts/ dresses. They automatically transform any woman into a princess with magic wands, tiaras and sparkles. Although this wedding was not about me, I wanted to feel like a princess.

A little magic can take you a long way- Roald Dahl

The design and colour combination of this dress was inspired by one of my favourite fashion bloggers, KT Reed of KTR Style. She designed a similar dress but I did not want to replicate her design but rather be inspired by the design. Of course, I also channeled a bit of my inner Carrie Bradshaw of SATC with the subtle high-low, flared bottom.

What are your thoughts about my design?

MY STYLE: Bold and Bright

Accept who you are; and revel in it- Mitch Albom

If you were to search through my closets....(yes I said closets with an 's' because there is more than one), you would not find a dress or skirt that is more than 2 inches above my knees. Why? Well, I've been teased all my life about how skinny/ petite I am and I have become overly conscious of my stature, including the fact that I have really skinny legs. While that is a compliment for many, in the Caribbean, being skinny is viewed as being ill or not liking to eat. As a matter of fact, I am quite the opposite. I am a healthy foodie. I LOVE my belly. I am genetically tiny and this goes as far back as my paternal great, great grandparents so there's definitely no hope for me gaining weight any time soon.

Wearing this dress today to run a few errands around town was a bold step for me and to post it here on my blog in this international forum is an even bolder step. This dress was gifted to me by my bestie because she thought it would look cute on me even though she's aware of the fact that I am conscious about my skinny legs.

What are your thoughts on my outfit?

Are you brave enough to rock white nail polish? I loved it!

After taking the pictures for this post, I popped into a new restaurant to check out the menu and saw this sign on a board. I really couldn't agree more about this ;)

MY STYLE: Double Sided Pisces

No I'm not a Pisces, I'm a Tauran (April 24), neither do I follow astrology but today I wanted to give my new BCBGeneration Pisces Slingbacks some loving. Aren't they the cutest, most unusual pumps you've ever seen? Ok, maybe not the most unusual but when I saw these babies, I just had to get them and please, let's not get started on the sexy toe cleavage they give.

I've been craving the perfect pair of black, patent, pointy toe pumps for a while now and still haven't found the right pair that won't cause me to break the bank. So in the meantime, I will be working with my newbies. I'm not a big fan of slingbacks but these are definitely an exception.

MY STYLE: Colour burst

By now, you should know that I absolutely love dressing up to go to church. I strongly believe that if we put so much effort into dressing up to go out, we should do the same for church but modestly of course.

I LOVE big, puffy, flared skirts. They are the epitome of a girlie girl which I btw am not, but sometimes, I don't mind looking and feeling like one. When I popped into my local fabric store and saw this print, instantly I thought, Spring/ Summer flared skirt so that is exactly what happened. The colours are so bold and Summery. I love it!

MY STYLE: A Classic Remix

Happy Sunday lovelies:

Just a quick post to share what I wore to church today. It is somewhat expected that when wearing black and white, the combination is paired with red but I didn't want this outfit to be a cliche.

Maybe in the future I will pair the skirt with a red top but for today, I remixed this classic combination with yellow.

What are your thoughts about black, white and yellow?

MY STYLE: Caged in Colour

Hi beauties:

Is it heating up where you live? It is so hot here that I feel like breaking the law.....

I wore this outfit to church yesterday and although I didn't plan on color-blocking, my outfit ended up this way. All I know is that I wanted to wear my new cage heels. Can you believe that I paid only £12 for these heels?

Hope you like the look.
