MY STYLE: Le Bleu

Hey loves! It seems as if I've been wearing a lot of blue lately but I promise you it's unintentional. I bought this maxi peplum a little while ago but hadn't worn it or even figured what to pair it with. It just sat in the closet longing to be worn. These pants have however been worn numerous times and have appeared in several posts (seen here and here). Because I'm always rushing, I didn't have time to properly prepare this outfit but figured these pants would have complimented the peplum nicely. mixing shades & hues of blue often work out right? In an upcoming post, I will be sure to share how I maximize shooting for style posts.

MY STYLE: You Bleu Me Away

The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most- John Ruskin

If you've been following this blog for some time then you'll know that I love colour. I am not a single colour kinda lady. I love colour. I am not afraid to wear colour. Colour speaks to moods and feelings and represents so many different things. Blue is nature's colour for water and sky (representing coolness) but rarely found in fruits in vegetables. Blue is the colour of peace and peace begins with a smile, so for me, blue in its various shades and hues will always be a wardrobe favourite.

I mentioned in a previous post that my seamstress returned to island so I am one happy lil camper again. I popped in to my local fabric store for a completely different reason which I will discuss in the next post, and saw this stunning Ankara print. There was NO WAY I was gonna bypass this fabric; absolutely no way. As I saw it, I knew that I wanted a full 360 box-pleat, maxi skirt and that is exactly what I went for. Since taking these pics, I've adjusted the length because I went a little overboard, forgetting my height, even in heels :(

MY STYLE: Blue Hues

I am not beautiful like YOU. I am beautiful like ME.
Over the past 2 years or so, I've become a lot more comfortable wearing shorts and rompers and anything above my knees. I stated the reasons in previous posts but for years, I had a complex, an insecurity, a strong dislike for my legs. People would repeatedly try to assure me that my legs were beautiful and I could wear anything that I wanted because I was (and still am) so slender and petite, but until I was able to see me as I was, and love and appreciate whatever I saw, I could not accept what they were saying. Only the negative comments lived with me daily. As time passed, I learned to love me more, embracing everything because it was what I had and what God blessed me with. For the things that I did not like and could change, I worked on them and still work on them. There will always be something (or a few things) that we will not like about ourselves but we should not love ourselves any less because of them.

Love YOU for YOU and BE YOU because there is only ONE you. Everyone else is taken.

MY STYLE: Blanket Scarf

Hello loves! I'm continuing my faux-Fall looks with this cozy, fuzzy, blanket scarf that I scooped up in Forever XXI last week on a spontaneous, unplanned trip to the big apple. If you're wondering why I said faux-Fall, it's because I live in the Cayman Islands and there is nothing Fall about 90+ degree heat. I was sweating bullets while shooting this look and
while many people would give anything to enjoy such high temps, I'm ok with it any other time of year except Fall and THAT is why the unplanned trip to New York happened. I am remaining optimistic and hoping that the weather will drastically cool down so I can fully break into Fall gear without being drenched in sweat.

This blanket scarf was a big hit in style blogosphere at one time and unfortunately, I was unable to get my hand on one from Zara because they sold out as soon as they were stocked. Apart from the fact that the scarf is cozy and fuzzy, the multi-coloured stripes offers you the opportunity to style and mix with varying accent pieces and colours.

Even though the scarf has 5 colours, I paired it here with red skinnies  and classic, pointy-toe, black pumps to give the look an extra pop of 'something'.

Summer Florals

As much as I absolutely love Fall, I am standing in the gap and holding on to the Summer days for all you fashionistas who love the Summer but are already experiencing the weather change. The Summer days are quickly fading and as soon as you know, it'll be Christmas.

On my recent travels to Czech Republic and Austria, I stopped in at the Designer Outlet Parndorf near Vienna, which is tax-free by the way, to browse through the outlet stores. Desigual is fairly new here in the Cayman Islands so I was not overly familiar with the brand although they've been around since 1984, but this dress caught my eye because my favourite colour was so prominent. I would say the variation of prints and designs of the brand are for eclectic persons who like busy prints and flamboyant splashes of colour so if you're more on the conservative side, this store is definitely not for you.

MY STYLE: Comfy Casuals

A girl can never have too many pairs of shoes and that includes kicks/ tennis shoes/ sneakers or whatever you want to call them. If I had to choose between heels or no heels, more than likely I'd choose heels but there are times where I just want to kick back in a comfy pair of kicks.....in this case, Chucks ;)

INSPIRED STYLE: Fuschia Flow

Just dropping in on this happy Monday to share another quick inspired style post with you. This time, my inspiration came from Kyrzayda. Her style is a mish mash of everything and she keeps it true to herself. She's kinda like me in that she wears whatever she feels like whether something is in style/ on trend or not. A lady after my own heart.

MY STYLE: Gold Rush

I've been wearing the heck out of these white shorts since I got them. While still casual, unlike my previous post, I styled this look a little more adding heels and more accessories. The previous post was all about these shorts and how ecstatic I was to find them but this time, I'm totally gloating over the top. The gold embroidered detail coupled with the gold grommets add so much dimension and depth to this feminine piece. Usually I forget to get a few close up shots of my outfits but I did not forget this time.

I was contemplating whether or not to resurrect the story about the 'dress', yes the dress that has divided the internet as to whether it was blue and black or gold and white. Clearly my top is gold and white but what did you think of the dress?

MY STYLE: Black Mermaid

For quite some time now, I've been seeing style bloggers and fashionistas styling pencil skirts with tees. As a matter of fact, it was a trend at one point but in true Olivia fashion, I don't necessarily follow trends and do my own thing whenever I'm ready. So here we are, about a year later out-of-trend,  styling a pencil, peplum hem skirt with a tee- a Top Model tee to be exact.
