MY STYLE: Casual Friday

Happy Friyayyyy loves! Ugh! what a week it has been. Do you ever have those days or in my case those weeks where everything and everyone just irritates you but you don't know why? Well, that was my week and it was not enjoyable at all. On top of that, I also didn't sleep well so needless to say, I am beat; dead tired. Thankfully it's the weekend and so I will go out of my way to cheer myself up and catch up on some much needed rest.

Do you recognize anything different about today's outfit? It should be pretty obvious. Ok, if you haven't figured it out, I'm not wearing anything off-the-shoulder seeing that my last 4 posts were about the off-the-shoulder trend. Lol! I figured I'd give you a break from reading about my current obsession with the trend. To be quite honest, I don't think I've ever been this obsessed with a trend, ever. There's just something about shoulders I guess.

On my last trip to Florida, I finally found a denim jacket that fits. I'm fun size, aka uber petite and some things just don't fit the way I would like them but thankfully my friends over at YMI Jeans thought of little women like me and made the absolutely perfect fitted denim jacket which will be on repeat from now on- thank guys! It's not too cropped or too long, neither is it too flat and boring but has the perfect amount of character in the wash and distressed patterns.

MY STYLE: Tetris (Black and White)

Being glamorous is about strength and confidence. It’s black and white—dramatic! You have to be strong—Catherine Zeta-Jones

My love for big, full, flare, midi or maxi skirts is growing at a speed that I seemingly cannot control. Thanks to my amazing seamstress who never grows tired of making these skirts for me, this high-low black and white maxi skirt is newest piece in my collection.
A few posts ago, I mentioned that I received invites to a few Christmas functions and I found that rather odd because rarely am I invited anywhere....maybe because I'm such a home body, but one of my department's partners extended an invitation to their annual Christmas party and this is what I wore.  I named the post Tetris because that's what the pattern reminds me of. You know that game right? On long haul flights, I love playing Tetris on my iPad.

Now, let's focus a little on the opening quote, especially the first line "Being glamorous is about strength and confidence" because it truly is. You could have the most amazing outfit, a face that's beat to the heavenlies, and a hairstyle that only a true master stylist could create, but if you're not bold, strong and confident, that insecurity will shout a whole lot louder than your banging outfit. In this life, you HAVE to be strong to survive. There are no two ways about it.

MY STYLE: You Bleu Me Away

The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most- John Ruskin

If you've been following this blog for some time then you'll know that I love colour. I am not a single colour kinda lady. I love colour. I am not afraid to wear colour. Colour speaks to moods and feelings and represents so many different things. Blue is nature's colour for water and sky (representing coolness) but rarely found in fruits in vegetables. Blue is the colour of peace and peace begins with a smile, so for me, blue in its various shades and hues will always be a wardrobe favourite.

I mentioned in a previous post that my seamstress returned to island so I am one happy lil camper again. I popped in to my local fabric store for a completely different reason which I will discuss in the next post, and saw this stunning Ankara print. There was NO WAY I was gonna bypass this fabric; absolutely no way. As I saw it, I knew that I wanted a full 360 box-pleat, maxi skirt and that is exactly what I went for. Since taking these pics, I've adjusted the length because I went a little overboard, forgetting my height, even in heels :(

INSPIRED STYLE: Fuschia Flow

Just dropping in on this happy Monday to share another quick inspired style post with you. This time, my inspiration came from Kyrzayda. Her style is a mish mash of everything and she keeps it true to herself. She's kinda like me in that she wears whatever she feels like whether something is in style/ on trend or not. A lady after my own heart.

MY STYLE: Purple Pleats

It's almost Friyay!! Woot! Do you have any plans for the weekend?
The weather has been nothing short of amazing over the past 2 weeks. The temperature fell to 64 degrees and of course, some found it to be too 'cold' and others like me were simply just basking. To be honest, it was a bit chilly for the Cayman Islands considering that we're so used to scorching temps, but I loved every minute of it--so did my maxi skirt.

I do have a few pleated maxi skirts and would like to add a few other colors to my collection. When I saw this magenta colored one, I squealed with excitement. These skirts tend to come in a 'One Size fits all' size but I really think designers/ manufacturers should change that. There is absolutely nothing on this earth that is a 'One Size fits all' because we're all different and I had to alter the waist of my skirt a little.

My look was inspired by Folake of Style Pantry and Blaire of Atlantic Pacific. The combination of the versatile denim shirt with the pleated purple maxi skirt was perfect in my eyes and so I had to put my spin on it.

MY STYLE: Tulle & Lace

From time to time, I'll go through the gallery of blog photos I have taken over time and sometimes I stumble upon outfits that were never posted. I first debuted this tulle maxi skirt here and it is one of my favourite looks.

I first saw this statement necklace on Kela of Kela's Kloset when we met at the Style Bloggers of  Color Conference in Miami in 2013. I instantly fell in love with it and was on the hunt ever since. I just had to have it. Totally swooning!

MY STYLE: Tulle Princess

Every girl pretends she is a princess at one point, no matter how little her life is like that-                                                                                                Alex Flinn

I was so eager to do this post just because of this skirt. I have been on the hunt for an affordable, tulle maxi skirt since the very first time I saw one late last year on another style blogger and I FINALLY found one. I am absolutely head over heels in love with this skirt and believe me, this may be the first but definitely not the last time you will see it. It is so full and flowy and princess-like and, and, and......I LOVE it!

For the entire time during this shoot, I was twirling and twirling and twirling. I couldn't help myself. It's so hard not to twirl in such a whimsical piece. I was definitely fueling my inner-Carrie Bradshaw (Sex and the City)

MY STYLE: Spring Brights (Purple Maxi Skirt + Green Blouse)

HAPPY EASTER lovies! Hope you're enjoying the 3-4 day weekend and making the very best of it. Here in the Cayman Islands, we have a 4-day weekend so I am living it up! In another post, I'll probably share a few pictures of how it was spent. It's  Caymanian tradition to camp (literally pitch tents) in various places around the island, but mainly on beaches during the Easter break but errr, that's not for me. Tonight is also the launch party for the 4th annual Cayman Islands Fashion Week so there's an exciting week ahead.

Enough about the weekend, let's get on to the outfit. I was completely overjoyed when I recently found this pleated, purple maxi skirt. When I first saw it on Blaire (Atlantic Pacific) and Folake (Style Pantry), I just knew that I wanted the same shade of purple. I even went as far as purchasing chiffon fabric to attempt making the skirt myself which was a fail (Mimi G to the rescue!!) At any rate, here I am, almost a year later in this maxi skirt. The colour combination was another inspiration from StylePantry. Btw, it was a 'one size fits all' fit but in the world of size 00, 0, XS, S, one size does NOT always fit all so I had to adjust the waist.
