The 30th annual Batabano Cayman Carnival was in full swing on 4 May 2013 as revelers jumped, danced and paraded down the streets of the world renowned Seven Mile Beach, Grand Cayman into central George Town. The parade kicked off around 2:30pm where bright colours, beads, feathers and lots of energy crowded the streets. Even though this year's
route was extended by an additional 2 miles, the extension did not deter
the soca junkies from keeping the energy going. Both young and old came out to
watch the parade.
My 'work' day started at 8am creating bright, bold and beautiful makeup looks for these revelers and ended 6.5hrs later but it was all worth it.
Every year, this event attracts thousands of visitors from around the world to our tiny piece of paradise in the sun. Even though our carnival is incomparable to those in Trinidad, Jamaica, Brazil and Honduras, our people know how to put it down and have fun.
Do you think you have what it takes to go hard and complete the journey?
