Stress free ways of surviving a stressful environment

Hi beauties:

This post is unlike any other that I have done before but I just felt the need to share these thoughts, in the hope that it encourages at least one person. Quite recently I have been speaking with a few people and they all share the same story. They are simply stressed out and this prompted me to write this post.

In today's world, it is virtually impossible to avoid stress. In some way or the other, each of us have felt or are feeling overwhelmed, burnt out, frustrated or stressed out but I want you to know that although we are living in an extremely stressful time, there is hope. You can still enjoy life.

While the following may not solve your woes overnight, they allow you to realise that you can  survive a stressful environment.

1- Take a scenic bike ride or nature walk. Even if you do not live in the most picturesque place, surely there is one place you can go to enjoy solitude, your own space in your own time. You will be surprised to learn how much of a stress relief it is to see something different. Something that you may not have seen in a very long time. Something that allows you focus on something other than your day-to-day woes.

2- At one point in your life, maybe you were a leisure reader but somehow along the way you were consumed in just merely trying to survive. When was the last time you lost yourself in a good book? Maybe that time is now.

3- You have heard time and time again how beneficial exercising is to overall health and well-being. Exercising for many people (stressed or not) is an essential part of life and even a daily routine for many. Exercising is a great way to boost your mood and get in shape. When it comes to exercise, you can't help but find yourself in a win-win situation.

4- D-I-Y projects can either add to your stress or completely relax you. Have a project in mind that you've been meaning to start (or finish) but just haven't had the time to do it? Well what are you waiting for? There is no time like the present so I suggest that you get cracking. Simply focusing your energies on something that you enjoy, allows you to temporarily escape your daily woes.

5- Find time to do absolutely nothing but sleep. Take a warm shower, eat something yummy, turn off your cellphone and crawl under the covers.

Just like exercise, sleep is necessary. It is crucial to healthy human existence. Maybe you've been working late because you have to meet deadlines. Perhaps your mind has been working overtime thinking about your sick grandmother who is in a nursing home or your friend who just lost her cat of 14 years or the huge report that has been sitting on your desk waiting to be reviewed. Sleep deprivation triggers many illnesses such as diabetes and delays your natural responses to certain stimuli. Don't lose out on your sleep

6- Catching up with friends is one of my favourite things to do on the weekend, especially over a plate of yummy risotto and a glass of wine. This might sound expensive but if you're only working to pay bills then maybe it is time to re-prioritorize. If eating out is not your thing, don't use it as an excuse not to catch up with friends and share some good belly-busting laughter. Laughter is good medicine for the soul.

7- PRAY. There is something so unexplainably powerful about prayer coupled with faith that transforms everything and changes situations. While your single prayer may not be able to solve or change the word's economic crisis, it can change your personal situation. Having a personal relationship with God puts you at an advantage and helps you cope with daily struggles. In your own time, you can read the following verses about what the Bible says about stress. Matt 11:28-30, Matt 6:33, Luke 6:48, Rom 8:31

Find time for you. Make time for you. Take time to enjoy life because time lost cannot be regained.

I hope that these 7 simple ways help you to realize that not all hope is lost. You can survive a stressful environment.
