Cayman Carnival Batabano 2014

Saturday, May 3rd 2014 was another great day for revelers and masqueraders as they celebrated the 31st annual Cayman Carnival Batabano. Bright colours, beads, feathers, glitter, gems and energy flooded the streets. The scorching 90 degree heat did not deter the soca junkies from jumping, neither did it deter the masses that came out to watch.

Thankfully, my work day creating vibrant, carnival looks wasn't as hectic as it was in 2013, so I had more than enough time to join in on some of the fun.

Every year, this event attracts thousands of visitors from around the world to our tiny piece of paradise in the sun. Even though our carnival is incomparable to those in Trinidad, Jamaica, Brazil and Honduras, our people still know how to take full advantage of the latest soca hits and all the fun involved.

I love all the bright colours that flood the streets during carnival. It brings such a happy vibe.

INSPIRED STYLE: Mono-Mix

Hi beauties:

After two full weeks of activities back to back, I am finally getting around to sharing  a style post with you.

This look is one that was inspired by an Instagram style blogger, Doopie. I actually met Doopie when she was living in the Cayman Islands and we instantly clicked simply because of our undying love for style. Doopie has since relocated to the UK but we still keep in touch and of course, stalk each other's styles on Instagram.

Mixing dots and stripes was a huge hit in 2012/13. I previously shared a similar post where I mixed dots and stripes.

Cayman Islands Fashion Week 2014- Makeup Segment

Cayman Islands Fashion Week just wrapped up its 4th year of fashion and style. The week long event featured an exciting line up of international, local and regional designers and models for an extended week of style, fashion and glamour. I had the amazing opportunity to work alongside Stephanie Ford-Ramoon and celebrity makeup artist Ashunta Sheriff on the various shows.

Luckily for me, I was finally able to get a few images of my work to share with you as I usually struggle to get images of my work from photographers.

Just a lil behind the scenes action getting these beauties ready to rip the runway

MY LIFE: Happy (Belated) Birthday....

If you follow me on Instagram, you would have known that I recently celebrated another birthday on Thursday, April 24th. For my birthday, I wanted to do something a little special just for me. Because I'm not a big party girl (anymore), I didn't have a party or anything but simply enjoyed some pampering time and a photoshoot.

Surprise birthday flowers......so unexpected but my favourite--calla lilies!

Of course a selfie

MY STYLE:: Black Friday (The Power of Black)

Happy Friday beauties! It's finally the weekend. Hope you make it a fantastic one. I have so much going on this weekend but I am not complaining. Keeping busy with things that I enjoy is quite fine by me. Hopefully I will find a minute or two to catch up on some much needed rest though.

How cute are these lace shorts? I first went public in shorts in my style post Fearfully Bold, but today's look has more of a 'powerhouse' feel. There is something powerful and empowering about all black. To break up the black just a bit, I added my multi-coloured ankle strap pumps.
