Hey beauties:
I hope you had an amazing weekend and ready for another productive week. I pretty much spent yesterday (Sunday) indoors as it was pouring buckets all day. I really didn't mind because I was able to get some house work done along with re-colouring my hair. :)
I've been on the hunt for the perfect shade of purple hair colour for a while and I saw a video by ColouredBeautiful on YouTube where she tried Purple Haze, a Manic Panic hair colour and I figured, hmmm, why not give it a go. When I got the colour, I noticed it was a royal purple so I mixed it with Hot Hot Pink to get the shade that I wanted. I have used Manic Panic hair colours before and I like them. Why? Because they do not contain peroxide or ammonia and are considered vegan so I'm all down for that.
Here is a step-by-step pictorial of how I coloured my hair. Bear in mind that several of my locs have been previously bleached.
Step 1: Ensure that your hair is wet. It makes the colour sit better. I didn't pre-wash mine. I just wet it in the shower.
Step 2: Apply colour. As you can see, I mixed my colour.
Step 3: Leave the colour in until you think it has totally saturated your locs (hair). I didn't time mine but considering that I was doing chores, I probably kept it in for an hour. Oopsie!
Step 4: Rinse hair with warm water until the water runs clear then, wash with shampoo until the water is clear-ish. The water will not go completely clear with the shampoo as this colour lightens with each wash.
Step 5: Towel dry and style as desired.
Step 6: I chose to curl my locs with pipe cleaners (see D-I-Y tutorial here)
Step 7: Style as desired
