MY STYLE: Fusion of Blue

The mind is everything. What you think, you become- Buddha

If you stare at the pattern of this skirt long enough, you are sure to become dizzy. I love the how the varying shades of blue are fused together to create a wave type, tie-dye effect. To not take away from the beautiful blue 'waves', I paired this peplum skirt with a staple, the white button up blouse. Because I also didn't want to be too matchy matchy, instead of wearing white or blue shoes, I reached for my ankle strap neutrals and neutral over-sized hobo bag and off to work I went.

INSPIRED STYLE: Princess Barbie

If I were to receive a dollar for every time some one called me barbie, I would be a zillionaire!

Over the weekend, I attended a beach wedding for two really cool, down to earth people. It was such a chilled, laid back type of wedding.....like a flip flop, short sleeve type of wedding, but knowing me, I had to attempt wearing heels on sand *crickets*.

I was never a girlie girl growing up and I still don't consider myself to be one but I really have a soft spot for big, flared, poofy skirts/ dresses. They automatically transform any woman into a princess with magic wands, tiaras and sparkles. Although this wedding was not about me, I wanted to feel like a princess.

A little magic can take you a long way- Roald Dahl

The design and colour combination of this dress was inspired by one of my favourite fashion bloggers, KT Reed of KTR Style. She designed a similar dress but I did not want to replicate her design but rather be inspired by the design. Of course, I also channeled a bit of my inner Carrie Bradshaw of SATC with the subtle high-low, flared bottom.

What are your thoughts about my design?

MY STYLE: Bold and Bright

Accept who you are; and revel in it- Mitch Albom

If you were to search through my closets....(yes I said closets with an 's' because there is more than one), you would not find a dress or skirt that is more than 2 inches above my knees. Why? Well, I've been teased all my life about how skinny/ petite I am and I have become overly conscious of my stature, including the fact that I have really skinny legs. While that is a compliment for many, in the Caribbean, being skinny is viewed as being ill or not liking to eat. As a matter of fact, I am quite the opposite. I am a healthy foodie. I LOVE my belly. I am genetically tiny and this goes as far back as my paternal great, great grandparents so there's definitely no hope for me gaining weight any time soon.

Wearing this dress today to run a few errands around town was a bold step for me and to post it here on my blog in this international forum is an even bolder step. This dress was gifted to me by my bestie because she thought it would look cute on me even though she's aware of the fact that I am conscious about my skinny legs.

What are your thoughts on my outfit?

Are you brave enough to rock white nail polish? I loved it!

After taking the pictures for this post, I popped into a new restaurant to check out the menu and saw this sign on a board. I really couldn't agree more about this ;)

MY STYLE: Denim and Stripes

Happy Friday lovelies! It's finally the weekend. I stalk the weekend like an insecure woman stalking a man......*crickets*....ok, never mind.

Today's outfit is another simple fashion cliche- good old stripes and denim. There's not much to say about pairing denim and stripes other than the fact that you can either dress this couple up or down.

Even though this pairing is an international fashion cliche, it was the first time that I wore denim and stripes.

Always be the first version of yourself rather than being a second version of someone else- Jaseem Kapoor

Here are how a few other fashionistas wore their denim and stripes

After torturing PM in the boiling sun, I made him smile shortly thereafter by taking him to one of our favourite places to eat- The George Town Yacht Club. Needless to say, he forgave me instantly. I am addicted to this place. The food, the ambiance, the staff.....pure perfection. If you're ever in the Cayman Islands, it is definitely a spot for you to try.

MY STYLE: Blue Aztec Jumpsuit......revealing Look 4

D-day is finally here! No I'm not getting married or anything (hmmph!). Today is the day that I reveal look 4 of my '4 ways to style a jumpsuit'. In my previous posts, I showed you how I styled the jumpsuit firstly in its original form, secondly, leaving the top half of the jumpsuit exposed and covering the bottom half with a maxi skirt, thirdly, by exposing the bottom half of the jumpsuit and pairing it with a peplum top and finally.....well, I'm still leaving the bottom half exposed as a pair of trousers but pairing it with a blazer.

Usually there would be an overload of photos but by the time I got to this outfit, Photo Man was tired and grumpy. You know how men can be ;)

Again, I chose to style this final look by throwing on a cropped, collarless off-white blazer so that the focus would remain on the print of the bottom half of the jumpsuit.

So there you have it! 4 Ways to Wear a Jumpsuit. Come to think of it, I could've made this 5 ways. Maybe next time.

I really hope that you enjoyed this series of styling one piece in different ways. I will definitely be sharing more of my multi-way styling series with you, and hope that you become inspired enough to try some of these outfits or even create your own.

Xoxo

MY STYLE: Blue Aztec Jumpsuit (Look 3)

Hey beauties:

Ok, so we're getting closer to revealing the 4 looks that I created from one piece- my blue, aztec print jumpsuit. This jumpsuit has easily become my newest, favourite item of clothing. It is so versatile and easy to style. If you missed the two previous looks, you can see look 1 here and look 2 here.

Today, I'm revealing look 3. Hope you like it! What do you think the final look will be?

TA DA!!!!

I wore my jumpsuit as pants and paired it with an off-white peplum top so that the focus would remain on the gorgeous aztec print. I could have very well worn a yellow or even orange top but to keep it simple, I stayed neutral.
I also switched out my chunky brown/neutral toned accessories for pearls which gave the look a more glamourous, day-time look.

I was rushing between outfits so much that I forgot to zip up the back of my peplum top and of course, Photo Man was so busy snapping away that he didn't even notice that my top was not zipped up. Hmmph!

I want everyone to wear what they want and mix it their own way.
That, to me, is what is modern- Karl Lagerfeld
