MY STYLE: Zip Line

Do you have a particular colour that you adore seeing on others but you just can't bring yourself to wear it? Well I sure do. As a matter of fact, I have two colours- red and purple.
Only in the past year or two have I been able to stomach seeing myself in red. Funny thing is, I actually don't mind wearing it now.

Wearing this pencil skirt made me feel like a powerhouse. If it were black leather, I could definitely envision the dominatrix look (with the whip too).

The skirt is quite fitted so I had to adjust to bottom zip a bit to walk properly and avoid the penguin steps.

What I Wore- Day 2- Style Bloggers of Color Conference 2013

Happy Hump Day lovies! Hope your week has been nothing short of fabulous thus far.

Just thought I'd share a quick post on what I wore for day 2 of the Style Bloggers of Color Conference 2013 in Miami. I'm sporting another flared/ circle skirt made by my seamstress. I bought this fabric in the hope that I would actually make the skirt myself but got cold feet when attempting to cut it, so I somehow convinced my seamstress to cut the 'pattern' and show me step by step how to make a circle skirt. Once I master the first one, I know that I'll be churning out lots more, so look out because seamstress Olivia is on the way ;).

.......and look, I FINALLY got a decent pair of black, patent pumps and they were on sale. Yay me! So classy

MY STYLE: Pop of Pink

Everything in life has a rule applied to it including fashion, but I firmly believe that some rules are made to be broken or completely thrown out of the door. I agree that not everything that is made is meant to be worn by everyone but who says that skinny people can't wear full black?

I have been completely obsessed with flared, full skirts lately. I want to say that Blair Eadie of Atlantic Pacific is responsible for re-igniting the flame of love for these beauties. She styles her flared skirts beautifully.

Once again, this skirt was meant to be one that I made but halfway through sewing it, I rang my seamstress in a tizzy and she came to the rescue. *whew*. When I saw this fabric in her store, I just knew that I had a make a full, midi flared skirt out of it and one that would be on repeat. I think I may even get a dress out of it too.

How perfect is the pop of pink to break up this full black ensemble?

INSPIRED STYLE: Flared and floral

I find inspiration for many things, in many things and wardrobe styling is no different. I find inspiration in magazines, TV commercials, from other style bloggers, definitely designers and the list goes on and on. While I have embraced my own style, at times, I draw inspiration from other style bloggers and today's look is another inspired look from the non-traditional, confident, uber gorgeous, style mogul and owner of online store ShoxieFolake Huntoon of Style Pantry. Folake sported a pair of distressed skinnies with her peplum here, whereas I exchanged the skinnies for flared denim. Skinnies have been on the scene for a while now but for this look, I gave my flared bottoms a day out on the town.

MY STYLE: Stripe Up My Alley

Hi lovies:

Recently, I've been in a very intimate relationship with stripes, specifically black and white stripes as seen in these posts here, here, one of my faves here, here and here. Whenever I get the chance, I ditch all other combinations and pair my stripes

When I saw this faux wrapped dress (similar sleeveless one here and shorter version here) at one of my local boutiques, I just knew that it had to come home with me. It had me at hi, hello and how are you!

Day 2- Style Bloggers of Color 2013 Conference

Hi lovies:

I'm almost at the end of my SBOC 2013 posts *boohoo*. Please allow me to reminisce about that event a little longer. I know that I've been raving about the event but honestly, for more than one reason, I really needed to attend an event like the SBOC Conference.

Day 2 of the conference was focused more on panels and Q&A sessions, whereas day 1 was more about informational presentations and group discussions.

Honestly, as much as the presentations, group discussions etc. were all engaging and informative, I really just wanted to network and take pictures. Hee hee!

I want to say that I enjoyed day 2 more than I did day 1. Well, maybe that's because I literally didn't attend any of the sessions on day 2 but ensured that I networked a bit more, took tons of photos, hung out with my bestie who flew in to support me for the event (I love you doll!) and of course, hit up Lincoln Street for some retail therapy *wink*.

MY STYLE: Aqua Stripes

After having such an amazing time in Miami last weekend at the Style Bloggers of Color 2013 Conference, I got back home and had a frumpy week and really needed a pick-me-up. I don't know about you, but there is absolutely nothing better than sharing experiences and being amidst people who have and share the same passion(s) as you. I think that's also what made the conference that much more amazing for me.

This little flare skirt was my happy pill for the day. When you look good, you feel good and although my skirt wasn't my 'cure all', it surely lifted my spirits. It was just what the doctor ordered.
