Mattie James, Director of SBOC (Style Bloggers of Color) took the 2nd Annual Style Conference to Miami this past weekend at the Hyatt Regency Miami (Downtown). The 2-day event was jam packed with informational sessions from creating press kits to BlogLaw 101, networking, pictures, food, fun, laughter and not to mention, lots of style.
In this post, I told that that I won a ticket to attend the event from October 10-12, 2013. I had such an amazing time meeting and networking with other style bloggers of color from across the USA. There were even a few bloggers of Caribbean decent. *woot! woot!* It was a great event and I left feeling fulfilled, energized and ready to take on the world of style blogging. I left feeling fully equipped to make my mark in the 'industry'. I have absolutely no regrets about attending the event despite a few hiccups that occurred with the event along the way.
The conference kicked off on Thursday, 10 October 2013, at the Pure Vida Lounge in the hotel with Scandal. Surely you all know about the latest TV series, Scandal right? Well, it was my first time watching an episode because I'm not really a huge TV fan but anyway, that episode was everything and it surely enticed me to keep watching.
I literally arrived in Miami on Thursday night and headed straight downtown to check in, change quickly and meet up with the rest of the ladies who attended the kick-off 'party'. It really wasn't a party but more of an intimate meet and greet session. Anything more and I would have been a party pooper because I worked earlier that day, hopped on the flight, arrived in MIA an hour later and jumped straight into 'style mode' so I was hella tired.
